St. Michael Prayer

St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our safeguard against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do, thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the Power of God, cast into hell satan and all of the evil spirits who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.

Glory to God in the Highest!

Inviting the Holy Spirit Into Your Life...

I asked myself today,
"Do I understand the Holy Spirit?"
No, I don't, but here's what I have learned in the Catechism of the Catholic Church.

The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Holy Trinity,
equal to the Father and Son.

He is called::
Paraclete,
Advocate,
Counselor.

He is also called::
Spirit of Truth,
Spirit of Promise,
Spirit of adoption,
Spirit of Christ,
Spirit of the Lord,
Spirit of God.

He is Holy.

He anoints.
He Heals.
He Transforms.
He writes on the human heart.
He teaches.
He lives.
He gives strength in our weakness.
He brings us into communion with God.

If you invite the Third Person of the Trinity into your life, I promise you this,

YOUR LIFE
WILL
NEVER
BE
THE
SAME!

As with Jesus who challenges us to live as His disciple,
the Holy Spirit loves a welcoming heart.
He will guide us.
He will inspire us.
He will help us to understand truth.

He will shake up your life.
You will do what you never imagined you could do!
He is God.
God can do anything.

Pray and invite the Holy Spirit into your life.
Then wait.
You will be loved as you have never felt love before.
 Be ready.
Through the fire of His love you will be transformed.

Holy Spirit,
I give you my life.
I offer myself to You.
Come into my heart.
Change my heart.
Purify my soul.
Inspire me to live, as You would have me live.
Send me where I will serve.
Inspire me to love more than I thought I could.
Transform me with Your Love and set my soul on fire.
Holy Spirit,
Come.
Shake up my life.
Set me free.
I am Yours.
Let my conversion be only for
The Greater Honor and Glory of God.
Use me.
My heart belongs to You.
Amen.

Healing and Forgiveness

Forgive and You Shall be Forgiven
Forgive us our trespasses AS WE FORGIVE those who trespass against us

"Seek and you shall find,
Ask and it shall be given to you."
Matthew 7:7

Forgiveness is not for wimps.  Forgiveness takes courage and strength.  Forgiveness means letting go of a pain, an injury, or a hurt and allowing God to heal your brokenness.

Forgiveness begins in the mind.  In order to forgive, we must make a conscious decision to forgive.    We must say, "Lord, God, I forgive."  With this decision, we begin the process of healing.   Each act of forgiveness begins with a decision to let go of the pain, and allow God room to work in our souls so that we might be healed.  The decision to forgive is an open invitation to God to work with us to being us peace and healing.  We still might be angry when we make the decision to forgive, but as we let go of each layer of pain, we begin to feel the love of God growing in our souls and peace becomes a flower bud ready to burst from within.

Healing is a process, and each layer of pain must be peeled away for healing to be complete.  Think of how you healed as a child when you skinned your knee.  The pain was very sharp in the beginning, especially when the injury was exposed to the fresh, clean air.  The nerves are raw because they are not protected.  The pain is sharp and the knee is tender.  Ointments are poured over the wound to help the healing process.  Then as healing takes place, there is less pain and tenderness.  One day we realize that a protective scab has been formed over the wound, but now it is gone and the wound is healed.  There is no more pain.

The wounds in our souls are the same.  Often, a wound has been nursed for a long time so an infection has grown in the wound.  As with every infection, there is pus in the wound.  That pus (the anger) must be released. This is painful because the wound must be lanced.  (When we make the decision to forgive, we are lancing the wound.)  As the pus drains, we feel relief in the wound.  Then the healing ointment of God's love is applied to the infection.  On our part, we need to ask for these healing graces through prayer and repentance.  The layers must be peeled off from the wound, and raw nerves are exposed to the fresh air.  Sometimes, there are only a few layers to peel off.  Often times, there are many layers to peel.  Eventually, as scabs form and fall off the wound, the pain is gone.  The anger we used to feel does not exist.  This process all began with the decision to forgive.  The graces of God flowed from our minds to our hearts.  Forgiveness manifested itself in the healing of our pain.

Many times, we think that it will be impossible to forgive a grievous hurt.  We know that we must forgive to heal our souls, but the pain is throbbing.  We must make the decision to forgive, then let God take over.  Once we have made room in our souls for him to work, then we have begun the process of forgiveness.  God, the divine healer, will do the rest.

Lord Jesus, Son of the Father and Mary, I am sorry because I have not forgiven.  I know that we when we pray the Our Father we ask the Father to forgive us AS WE FORGIVE others.  I am having a difficult time forgiving this injury.  I ask You, Jesus, the Divine Healer, to work in my soul.  I make the decision now to forgive the person who inflicted this grievous hurt on me.  I ask You to forgive them.  I ask You to help me forgive them.  I am weak, Lord, but You are strong.  You are My God, My Lord, and my Savior.  Thank You for Your help.  I want to forgive, and I ask to be forgiven.  Praise You, Heavenly Father.  Praise You, Divine Son.  Praise You, Holy Spirit.
Amen.

Go in Peace

Luke 8: 43-48

The narrow roads of the town were crowded with people who wanted to get near the Master.  People were pushing, walking elbow to elbow, as they sought to get closer to Him.  She was weak and frail from the loss of blood.  She had heard the Master preach, and she had loved Him immediately.  She only wanted to get near to Him to ask Him to heal her or just to touch His garment.  She knew that, if she could only get close to Him and touch His clothing, she would be healed.

He was so far away from her on this dusty road.  The shop keepers called out to Him as He walked past them.  He waved and greeted them with that Smile that she could never forget.  He seemed to be busy talking to His advisors.  She had heard their names, but she could not remember them.  She stumbled once, and someone caught her before she fell.

She was a widow, and she had no money left.  She had spent all she had to pay the doctors who tried to help her, but  the bleeding would not stop.  She knew that she was near death.  She knew was considered unclean by those around her.  Many people would avoid her in the town, but on this dusty road where buildings were so close, and so many sought the Master, no one seemed to notice her.  She was relieved to be unseen.

She fought her way through the crowd with all the strength she had.  She saw His Mother walking in the crowd. She was hoping that, maybe, if she would catch His Mother's eye, His mother would help her get close to Her Son.  His Mother didn't look her way.  She, too, was struggling with the crowd.  Even though the road was steep and crowded, she was determined.  He was her only hope, so she continued on this dusty road, only wanting to touch His garment.

Suddenly, there was an opening in the crowd.  She didn't think she would have the strength to get close enough, but she worked her way through the small parting in the sea of people.  She was right behind Him.  She could smell the sweet fragrance that came from His Body.  He and His advisors were still walking and talking.  They walked so fast and she had a difficult time catching up.  She reached out.  She grabbed the hem of His garment.  She felt the power flow from Him into her body.  The bleeding stopped. She felt energy flow through her body restoring her strength.  She realized she had been healed.

Then, she was seized with  fear.  She had touched this Holy Man of God, and she had been unclean.  She turned to leave, but heard Him say, "Who touched Me?"  She hid her face in shame.  His disciples looked at Him and said, "Master, the crowds have been so great.  There are many people touching You as they walk with You."  He spoke with authority saying, "Someone touched Me.  I felt power flow out from Me."  He searched the the crowd with His gentle eyes.  She knew she must go to Him and admit her great shame.

She was trembling with fear as the crowds separated to let her draw near to the Master. Her legs could barely support the weight of her body they were trembling so much.  She shook with fear and knelt in front of Him and said, "Master, I touched Your hem, and I was healed."  He held her face in His strong hands and smiled.  She didn't want to look at Him.  She was filled with shame at what she had done.  He lifted her chin and looked into her eyes.  "Daughter, your faith has saved you.  Go in Peace."

His eyes!  She could never forget His eyes full of tenderness and mercy.  He helped her to stand up.  Tears streamed down her face as she looked at Him.  He smiled at her.  Then He turned around, and the crowd followed Him, and she was left standing alone in the street.  She looked ahead, and she saw His Mother looking back at her and smiling.  She waved.  His Mother waved.  Then the two women turned away from each other filled with Love by the Master.  She was at peace.
