I attended Mass on the Vigil of the Epiphany. Fr. Richard was the celebrant. Below are my words summarizing his excellent homily.
Father Richard compared
and contrasted the search for the Child Jesus by the Magi and Herod.
He remarked that the Magi went where the Lord led them and their reward
was to be able to worship the Child
Jesus as gentiles.
Herod, on the other hand, was seeking the Child
Jesus to hold on to his earthly power. He feared the Child and sought
to keep his power by doing it his way and not God's way.
Father Richard reminded us that when we follow God's way, listen to
Him, give Him all we are, and Trust Him, we will grow closer to God.
The trick is to follow the Way of the Lord. What God wants us to do is
not easy. It is, often, not what we want to do, but in the end, His
way should be our way.
Thanks, Padre! Your words are most appreciated and loved!
