St. Michael Prayer

St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our safeguard against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do, thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the Power of God, cast into hell satan and all of the evil spirits who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.

Glory to God in the Highest!

It's easier in the winter to Dress Appropriately for Church, but summer is coming...

This guide for appropriate dress at mass comes from the Philippines.  I feel that this is an excellent guide for appropriate dress at Mass.  It is non confrontational.  It simply shows what is appropriate dress and what is not.  This illustration guides and empowers attendees, whether male or female, to respect the sanctity of Mass and the greatness of our God.

How do you feel about this?  Should people be allowed to wear anything they choose for the sake of getting them to Mass?  Or should there be some restrictions on what a person can wear?

  1. I do think there should be a dress code for Mass. In the Vatican, there's posted right outside the basilicas, and is very similar to the one in your post. But there is something more recent that I have noticed which is not yet addressed by these directives. I'm speaking of the popular leggings which women like to wear in the winter to keep their legs warm. But, some now wear them as though they are actually pants. Of course, they aren't and really look more like tights. It is virtually the same as parading into church in black tights. I have even seen some women/girls wearing them without a shirt/sweater long enough to cover their thighs. Sadly, I even saw women going into St. Peter's in Rome in this getup, and they weren't stopped. At Mass today, a teenage girl sitting right in front of me had on leggings and boots, and she was with her mother. Anyway, that's my two cents. And if I sound like Oscar the Grouch, please forgive me! :) I do think this problem should be addressed. Love your blog! God bless you!

  2. Thanks, Patricia! You make sense to me! :) Thank you!
