He rode the donkey knowing...
A few more days and His life would be over.
He would be mocked.
He would be beaten.
He would be abandoned by those whom He loved.
He knew.
Both Human and Divine,
He saw the sufferings.
He felt the pain.
His human nature recoiled,
but
His Divine Nature,
Love, embodied in Him,
Accepted His cross with joy.
He knew.
He heard their praises as He rode.
He saw their souls locked in earthly thoughts.
He wept.
Soon they would turn on Him.
Soon they would demand His death.
Soon He would feel the pain of nerves raw from the whip,
Chunks of flesh torn from His body,
His Head crowned with thorns.
The day would darken.
The nails would be pounded into His Hands and Feet.
He would see His mother weeping,
Her sufferings joined with His for all mankind.
He knew.
Love propelled Him to the cross.
As he rode,
Knowing what was to come,
He healed.
He taught.
He loved.
Love overcame the sorrow.
Love overcame the ain.
He knew.
Salvation would come soon.
