St. Michael Prayer

St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our safeguard against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do, thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the Power of God, cast into hell satan and all of the evil spirits who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.

Glory to God in the Highest!

All Souls Day! Pray for the Souls Who are being Purified In Purgatory.

St. Gertrude Prayer

Our Lord, Jesus, told St. Gertrude that each time this prayer is recited,
1,000 souls are released from Purgatory.

Eternal Father, I offer Thee the Most Precious Blood of Thy Divine Son, Jesus, in union with the masses said throughout the world today, for all the holy souls in purgatory, for sinners everywhere, for sinners in the universal church, those in my own home and within my family. Amen.

Prayer for the Faithful Departed by Blessed John Henry Newman
O GOD of the Spirits of all flesh, O Jesu, Lover of souls, we recommend unto Thee the souls of all those Thy servants, who have departed with the sign of faith and sleep the sleep of peace. We beseech Thee, O Lord and Saviour, that, as in Thy mercy to them Thou became man, so now Thou would hasten the time, and admit them to Thy presence above. Remember, O Lord, that they are Thy creatures, not made by strange gods, but by Thee, the only Living and True God; for there is no other God but Thou, and none that can equal Thy works. Let their souls rejoice in Thy light, and impute not to them their former iniquities, which they committed through the violence of passion, or the corrupt habits of their fallen nature. For, although they have sinned, yet they always firmly believed in the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost; and before they died, they reconciled themselves to Thee by true contrition and the Sacraments of Thy Church.

O Gracious Lord, we beseech Thee, remember not against them the sins of their youth and their ignorances; but according to Thy great mercy, be mindful of them in Thy heavenly glory. May the heavens be opened to them, and the Angels rejoice with them. May the Archangel St Michael conduct them to Thee. May Thy holy Angels come forth to meet them, and carry them to the city of the heavenly Jerusalem. May St Peter, to whom Thou gave the keys of the kingdom of heaven, receive them. May St Paul, the vessel of election, stand by them. May St John, the beloved disciple, who had the revelation of the secrets of heaven, intercede for them. May all the Holy Apostles, who received from Thee the power of binding and loosing, pray for them. May all the Saints and elect of God, who in this world suffered torments for Thy Name, befriend them; that, being freed from the prison beneath, they may be admitted into the glories of that kingdom, where with the Father and the Holy Ghost Thou lives and reigns one God, world without end.

Come to their assistance, all ye Saints of God; gain for them deliverance from their place of punishment; meet them, all ye Angels; receive these holy souls, and present them before the Lord. Eternal rest give to them, O Lord. And may perpetual light shine on them.

Pray!  Pray! Pray!

All Souls Day, November 2

Let the saints speak:

Padre Pio
said,

"The souls in Purgatory repay the prayers that we say for them."

"When we pray for the souls in Purgatory we will always get something back."

“The souls in Purgatory pray for us, and their prayers are even more effective than ours,

because they are accompanied by their suffering.

So, let's pray for them, and let's pray for them to pray for us.”

St. John Vianney said:

"Consider then...the magnitude of these sufferings which the souls in Purgatory endure; and the means which we have of mitigating them: our prayers, our good works, and, above all, the holy sacrifice of the Mass."

"The fire of Purgatory is the same as the fire of Hell; the difference between them is that the fire of Purgatory is not everlasting.”

"Yet how quickly we could empty purgatory if we but really wished to.”

Mother Theresa
said:

“When you pray for the souls in purgatory God will be so pleased with your unselfish prayers for those you don’t even know, that he will grant you your dearest wish, without even asking and sometimes maybe without you even knowing what your dearest wish is.”

Regarding the rosary beads that were being used by Mother Theresa:  At the beginning were totally black but as the beads went on they got lighter until, at the end of the rosary, they were completely white. As she took out the rosary he ventured to ask about the differing colors of the beads.  She explained they were called Holy Souls Beads and the changing colors signify coming from darkness into light.  We know as we pray a Rosary for the holy souls, Jesus brings many of them out of darkness into the light.”

St Gertrude the Great:

Eternal Father, I offer you the most precious Blood of your Divine Son Jesus,
in union with the Masses said throughout the world today,
for all the Holy Souls in Purgatory, for sinners everywhere,
for sinners in the universal Church, those in my own home and within my family.
1000 souls are released from Purgatory each time this prayer is recited!

Amen.

In November, We Honor our Beloved Dead

The Church Militant, The Church Suffering, The Church Triumphant

These terms are the terms I learned when growing up and learning about our Catholic Faith.  Although not used in the modern Catechism, they are referred to by their meanings, not the terms.
The Church Militant is we who are alive and battling the battle, fighting the fight against sin each day.  We are the part of the Church who can still intercede for those who have died and speed their entry into heaven.
The Church Suffering refers to those souls who have been saved but are suffering in Purgatory, waiting to be cleansed, longing for the day they can be united with God.
The Church Triumphant are those souls who have been purified and live in heaven praising God and interceding for those of us on earth and in Purgatory.

We are all united as a part of the Church, the Catholic Church, founded by Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Two days of the year are devoted prayer and thanksgiving for those souls who are saints.  We celebrate the lives of the known saints who were canonized by the church and bear the title Saint before their names.  We also celebrate the unknown saints who are in heaven.  When we enter heaven, we will also be saints!  Most of us will be unknown saints.  Will that matter?  No, we will be in the presence of God!  What a joy to anticipate!  November 1 is All Saints Day, and it is a holy day of obligation for us.   Since the souls who have passed into heaven no longer need our prayers, we praise God for the gift of these souls who can now and do intercede for us.  We praise God for the chance to join these souls one day and breathe in the presence of The Lord!

November 2, is All Souls' Day.  This is the day we remember the suffering souls in Purgatory.  The souls in purgatory can no longer help themselves, so we must pray for all the souls  that their release from Purgatory will be fast and they will enter into the presence of God for which they long!  How great is their longing for God!  When we pray for these souls, we  pray for those who will be intercessors for us in heaven, and they will greet us when we enter the Kingdom of God!   Offer masses for these souls.  Pray for these souls.  Have masses said for your beloved dead.  Have masses said for those who are not your beloved dead.  Your love will reciprocated not only by the souls whom you help, but by our Loving, Generous God!  He will not be out done in love, generosity, and graces!

Eternal Father, I offer Thee the most precious blood of Thy Divine Son, Jesus, in union with the masses said throughout the world today for all the holy souls in purgatory, for sinners everywhere, for sinners in the universal church, those in my own home, and within my family.   Amen.

Our Lord, Jesus Christ, told St Gertrude the Great, that this prayer will release 1,000 souls from Purgatory each time it is prayed.  Make a novena of this prayer, and you will help to release 9,000 souls in one day!

Honor your dead!  Love your dead!  Pray for our dead!  Our church gives us a chance to honor and  remember our dead through the month of November!  Let us use this chance to draw closer to God and to the souls who have gone before us into eternal life!

All Praise and Honor be to the Precious Blood of Jesus, for it wrought our salvation and our redemption. Amen
