Memories and a Rosary

This Rosary was made for me by my Aunt Peggy.  Her real name was Margaret, but everyone called her Peggy.

I found this Rosary last night when I cleaned out a drawer last night.

I had forgotten I had it!

I love it!

This Rosary was made with great love.

I won't go into details, but Peggy was married to an abusive man who, as part of our military,

kept her away from the family through his voluntary assignments overseas.

The family didn't know about the relationship because, even on visits,

the surface is what we saw.

My heart breaks when I think of her, but I know she's in heaven now for all she endured.

The mask she wore was a smile, but the love she had for us was real.

She had very little access to money or the telephone,

but she managed to call home to tell us she loved us and send my children money on their birthdays and Christmas.

As Peggy lay dying from breast cancer, she began to reveal bits of her life 

Police reports confirmed what she said, and her husband's absence from her bedside and funeral spoke volumes.

If Peggy spent any time in Purgatory, I would be surprised.

I do know she prayed for her husband.  This was important to her.

I know she's in heaven.

I also know that I must pray for the man who was her husband.

Forgiveness is a challenge, but it must be.

I do pray for his soul, so, maybe now, I should use this Rosary to pray for him.

Remember, we must never give up on souls.

Like Padre Pio did, we can pray now for anyone who has already died, that they might have the grace of a holy death.

So, I will pray for her and for him.  I wasn't there when Peggy died, but I wish I had been.

 

St. Gertrude's Prayer for the Souls in Purgatory

said to release 1,000 souls each time it is prayed.

 

Eternal Father, I offer You the most precious Blood of Your Divine Son, Jesus, in union with all of the Masses said throughout the world, in reparation for sin, for the Holy Souls in Purgatory, for sinners everywhere, for sinners in the universal Church, those within my own home, and within my family.

Amen.

May you rest in the love of God and in the arms of Jesus!
